DOHA: Thailand is working closely on several bilateral agreements signed with Qatar during the visit of Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva recently.

Thai Ambassador to Qatar Suvat Chiparant told The Peninsula that a sustainable economic project extended by Qatar for the benefit of the Muslim Thai people living mostly in the southern part of their country is being worked out among other agreements between the two countries.

“We are now working closely with Qatar to pursue the working agreements with our country during the Prime Minister’s visit here in Doha,” Chiparant said.

Last week, Chiparant paid an official visit to the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to personally hand over the letter of PM Vejjajjiva pertaining to ties between the countries and issues of mutual concern between Qatar and Thailand.

“I personally conveyed to His Highness The Emir the message of appreciation by our Prime Minister for the warm reception during his visit to Qatar,” Chiparant said.

The Thai Ambassador revealed that they are now preparing tasks for a possibility of another official visit of PM Vejjajjiva to Qatar this year to strengthen the ties and work on more equally beneficial agreements.
